Happy Halloween! Since I’m not too into sweets, but know that Halloween is one of the biggest candy holidays of the year I thought I’d compromise and present you guys with this awesomeness. Yes. Chocolate.Dipped.Potato.Chips. Okay, so maybe we’re cheating a little because this isn’t really a full “recipe” per-say….but the fact that it’s Chocolate.Dipped.Potato.Chips. makes everything okay, right? You’ll forgive us, won’t you?! I think the only way this could possibly get any better would be to sprinkle a generous amount of crumbled bacon over the chocolate before it hardens…but that’s just me. A good thing to note:the thicker the chips the better (i.e. ridge chips, kettle chips). Using thin potato chips sort of makes them a little soggy after awhile and I also feel like you kind of lose the saltiness and crunch from the chips, which is one of my favorite parts. Anyways, I hope everyone has a great and safe Halloween, whether it be sitting at home watching horror movies, pretending to not be home because you forgot to get Halloween candy, or dressing up as Whorey Potter and partying it up…..hey, no judgement here!
xx Jenny
Chocolate Covered Potato Chips
Makes 1 (15 ounce) bag
Ingredients:
1½ cups chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, dark is your choice)
1 (15.25 ounce bag) bag ridge-cut potato chips
Directions:
1. Place chocolate chips in a heat resistant bowl and place over a pot of simmering water. (make sure the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl)
2. Completely melt chocolate until smooth and begin dipping the chips, about ½ way.
3. Shake off any excess chocolate and place chips onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
4. Allow chocolate covered chips to dry completely before serving.
5. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
This is intriguing… I’m a chip lover, but iffy on mixing with sweet… but this looks so good! Happy Halloween!
Awesome – actually reminds me of trips to my Nanas – she used to give us chips and choc at the same time and the salty/sweet taste always intrigued me.
Beautiful pics too

I recently discovered Trader Joes has a milk chocolate ones. Too good. Not something I “needed” to discover, but I “need” to just make my own :)
Anyone who is skeptical should realize this is tame compared to Bacon & Chocolate- and no one ever questions chocolate covered pretzels, the reigning Sweet & Salty Champion.
And one last thing, if you like these you definitely HAVE TO try the Ben & Jerry’s: “Late Night Snack” Jimmy Falon’s flavor. Vanilla Bean Ice cream with caramel ribbons and little chunks of Chocolate covered potato chips!
That sounds amazing. I will for sure! Thanks for the tip!
Thank YOU for the awesome photos and not too serious food posts! ;)
I love late night snack….almost as much as chubby hubby…still haven’t tried “schweaty balls” yet, but I think I’d be really into it :)
yeah, chocolate covered rum and malted milk balls–sign me up! :)
I’ve had this treat before. It’s fabulous because it’s like peanut butter and chocolate. The perfect combo of sweet and salty. I want these so badly so I can eat them while I watch dancing with the stars and pass out candies to the little ones! Or over some ice cream!
i’ve been curious about chocolate-dipped potato chips for awhile but i’m pretty sure i’ll love them. chocolate + salty = heaven, in my opinion :) happy halloween!!
It’s good if you use Pringle Potato Chips too (do you have Pringles in the US?)
lol, yep we have pringles….. Love them and that’s a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
This is something that I would have never thought of, but now it looks so weird that I just HAVE to try it. I’m sure it is delicious! Thanks for the post.
I had no idea these could be so simple to make! THANK YOU! Must try soon!
Mmm how simple is this?! Love it.
Ahhh! you tempt me with the most amazing junk food. I actually had chocolate covered chips for the first time not too long ago. Now an addict. Anything salty with chocolate has my heart. I am a closet pretzel and chocolate eater. I eat them in solitude and would never admit it ;) I think I have a problem haha
Wrong on so many levels, and yet, I have to try them. They look amazing.
This is such a cute and fun idea! I will definitely have to try this soon… I LOVE sweet & salty flavors together.
These look dangerously delicious…love it!
Hmmm… combination of salty snack and well…. chocolate… yum!
Oh my gosh, those photos are about to make me start drooling! I love the salty-sweet combination!
Love this! I’ve bought chocolate covered potato chips before and have found the chocolate to be overpowering and too think where I can’t taste the salty potato chip. I’ve been thinking about this but it’s just been a thought. The photos make me want to go ahead and make these as soon as possible! Thanks!
What a great party idea!! Loved your style.
I’ve been coating a lot of different foods with chocolate lately but never thought of this combination. Thanks for the idea!
I think this is a rad idea for holiday parties. You can just make a big batch of these, put them in cute glass containers, tie a bow and gift them for hosts and stuff. CUTE!
I am all over this! My wife will love me forever. Her 2 favorite things. She will like me more if I only make a snack bag of them. Great Blog!
OMG! Sweet + salty = love.
A Japanese chocolate company called Royce makes awesome choc potato chips too, you can get them across Asia.

Oh man. I can feel my pants getting tighter as I type. Haven’t tried Jimmy Fallon’s ice cream yet—I’m currently obsessed with Blue Bunny’s Peanut Butter Panic *youmusttry* but his war with Colbert is compelling me. Love Adrianna’s suggestion as a hostess gift.
Peanut Butter Panic?! I feel like my boyfriend will love me more if I have a pint of that waiting for him when he gets home..
You MUST try “Talenti’s Gelato” …any flavor but the sea salt caramel is my fav. It is the most wonderful ice cream you will ever find unless you happen to go to Portland, OR and go to the “Salt and Straw” ice cream shops!!!
I tried these in P.E.I. and the were delicious only the whole chip was dipped in chocolate.

I have had Royce’s Chocolate Potato Chips and they are absolutely wonderful. Too bad one cannot buy Royce outside of Asia. They’re usually sold out of these babies by the end of the day.

I just made these. They are soooo good! I even tried the kettle chips made with salt and cracked pepper. Yum! I wonder how it would be with a more spicy chip…
I made these last night for a party – they were a hit! Super cute :)
Try it with doritos! Unbelievable
Thanks so much! Going to add a few colored sprinkles and got a quick easy holiday gift! :)

Ha! This reminds me of an Amelia Bedelia book where she is asked to make chocolate chip cookies for a camping trip. Instead, she makes something along the lines of this :)

Oh, and thanks for this “recipe”…heading to get “groceries” shortly ;)
Why do people leave comments about what they think about the recipe–instead of actual reviews? Who cares if you think it looks great? So what? Try the recipe and then leave a valuable comment. Makin’ me crazy. And yes, I realize my comment isn’t a review.
Chocolate covered ruffles – WOW. Another good combination (salty and sweet) are chocolate covered raisins with ruffled chips. YUM! Don’t knock it until you try it.
Chocolate covered potato chips aren’t new to me. About 30 years ago, a work colleague brought some to work. She found them at a gourmet store.
Haven’t had anything like this in ages. As a teenager, I used to love to eat potato chips and drink a chocolate malt. I must try this one. Sounds like heaven to me.
I love these. Me and my bff Rosanna had them at a chocolate festival. They are so good.
