    Our simple and delicious Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe is a crowd pleaser. This recipe is creamy, cheesy, well balanced and can be made in under 30 minutes!

    We couldn’t be more excited about our Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe! We both love dips so much. Dips are the perfect snack food and there are always so many great ‘dipper’ options. You can also make this ahead of time in 5 minutes, pop it in the fridge and just stick it in the oven right before you’re ready to serve it!

    Our buffalo chicken dip is SUCH an easy, low maintenance recipe. It’s so creamy and delicious and the whole thing can be made in under 30 minutes! It might be the best buffalo chicken dip you’ll ever taste.

    What is Buffalo Chicken Dip?

    Buffalo Chicken Dip is a popular American dip recipe that is primarily made with chicken, cheese and buffalo sauce. It’s creamy, delicious, and has all the flavors of hot (buffalo) chicken wings. We recently posted a recipe for homemade Buffalo Sauce, which is just hot sauce mixed with butter. Our recipe has a couple more ingredients to up the flavor, but that’s the gist.

    How to Make Our Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

    Ingredients to Note

    • Buffalo Sauce – We recently posted a recipe for our own easy homemade buffalo sauce. It’s essentially hot sauce and butter. Ours has a couple other ingredients as well to boost the flavor. Our go to hot sauce for to make buffalo sauce is Franks RedHot! It’s the most common for buffalo sauce.
    • Shredded Chicken – You can can cut down on some time here and use store bought chicken. Shredding a seasoned rotisserie chicken is an easy way to cut down on prep!

    Process

    1. Preheat oven. Add all buffalo chicken dip ingredients to a bowl.
    2. Mix together.

    1. Pour mixture into a baking dish and smooth top.
    2. Top with remaining shredded cheddar cheese and bake until heated through and cheese on top has melted.

    1. Top dip with remaining green onion and crumbled blue cheese (if using). Serve with things like chips, celery sticks, crackers, and carrot sticks.

    Tools You Will Need

    • Mixing Bowl
    • Wooden Spoon or Rubber Spatula
    • Box Grater
    • Cutting Board
    • Knife
    • 1 Quart Baking Dish

    Can Our Buffalo Chicken Dip be Made in A Slow Cooker (Crock Pot)?

    Yes! Our dip can be made in a slow cooker with delicious results!

    Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip Instructions

    Place all ingredients, into the well of a slow cooker and stir together. Cover and set slow cooker to high heat. Cook for 2 hours. Remove lid and stir together. Top with remaining shredded cheese and cover for an additional 10 to 20 minutes, until cheese has melted. Top with green onions and serve!

    Make Ahead and Freezing Our Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

    Make Ahead

    Our Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe can be made up to 3 days ahead of time. To make ahead, follow recipe instructions until it’s time to bake the dip. Tightly cover unbaked dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

    When ready to serve, remove plastic wrap from baking dish and bake dip, adding an additional 3-5minutes to the baking time.

    Freezing

    We do not recommend freezing this dip. The amount of dairy in this dip will cause the quality to go down tremendously once frozen.

    Buffalo Chicken Dip Variations

    We love this simple and delicious recipe so much, but there are few different things we like to change, add and take away depending on what we have on hand. Some of our favorite variations are below!

    • Use all chicken breasts of chicken thighs if you have a preference on light and dark meat.
    • White cheddar is a great alternative to regular cheddar. It has a naturally sharp flavor which we love!
    • If you want a slightly milder flavor cheese, fontina is a great choice! It’s mild in flavor, but still melts really well, making it perfect for this dip!
    • Chives can be used in place of the green onions for an equally delicious hint of onion.
    • Cilantro makes a great addition to this dip. Simply stir a little into the dip for an extra bright flavor boost!
    • Add veggies! Stir some vegetables into the dip! Some of our favorites are sautéed spinach or kale and shredded carrots, which add great texture!
    • You can also adjust the spicy levels in this dip by adding more or less of the buffalo sauce. If you’re worried about it being too spicy, then start with half the amount of buffalo sauce and go from there.
    • Use sour cream or blue cheese dressing in place of the ranch dressing, depending on your flavor preferences!

    There are so many things to serve with our dip! Some of our favorite things are:

    • potato chips
    • tortilla chips
    • crudités (carrot sticks, celery sticks, radishes, jicama sticks)
    • crackers
    • crostini

      INGREDIENTS  

    • 2 1/2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
    • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
    • 8 ounces shredded cheddar divided
    • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
    • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
    • 2 thinly sliced green onions
    • 1/4 cup crumbled bleu cheese optional

      INSTRUCTIONS  

    • Preheat oven to 400˚F.
    • Combine chicken, cream cheese, 2/3 shredded cheese, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and 1 green onion into a mixing bowl and stir together until fully mixed together.
    • Pour mixture into a baking dish.
    • Top with remaining shredded cheese and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until heated through and cheese on top has melted.
    • Top dip with remaining green onion and crumbled blue cheese (if using). Serve with things like chips, celery sticks, crackers, and carrot sticks.
