It’s been just a little bit slow around here lately. We are working on some new big projects that we will be able to share with you in what seems like forever. I just wanted to remind you that we have totally not forgotten about you! I’ve been spending a lot of time at home working and watching tv in the background. Most recently I’ve been watching the Twilight series. Totally embarrassing I know, I really have a thing for saga series. Harry Potter and Star Wars are my usual go to, so I decided to watch Twilight to mix things up. It’s so bad, it’s good. Sometimes when the bad acting mixed with horrible writing happens all at once on the screen I totally get embarrassed and turn red, even though I am by myself. The reason I do like Twilight is because it is so bad it’s good. Much like these Chocolate Chunk and Cinnamon Scones. They are so bad it’s good in a different way. So bad, as in we made scones be yet another vehicle for the consumption of chocolate. Good, because you’re eating chocolate. So let’s be so bad it’s good together and eat these Chocolate Chunk and Cinnamon Scones and watch Twilight.
    ♥ Teri

Why would anyone use a regular chocolate chip when you have chunks available?

Yet another fantastic recipe. It wasn’t clear to me when to use the heavy cream (other than brushing), so what I did instead of doing buttermilk was mix the 1/4 c heavy cream that I’d bought with flax milk (typically don’t have dairy on hand) and kefir (you know, sour, like buttermilk, right?) to make the amount of liquid needed for this recipe. I doubled the recipe, and didn’t really measure the liquid (I am known around my house as the “biscuit queen”), so I ended up with drop scones, which turned out fantastic. Also, it’s worth noting that I dropped these on parchment, and froze on a cookie sheet, then put in a baggie to save for later. I do this with biscuits all the time, so why the heck haven’t I done this with scones? They bake just fine later. (just had one tonight)

I love scones, and these look delicious! Since scones tend to be dry, what would you recommend adding to make them more moist?

I would add an extra 2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup of buttermilk!…the dough will feel noticeably more wet, but that’s okay!

Now there’s a scone I can get behind! Also, I’m working today while watching TV/movies in the background. I chose Pride and Prejudice but I totally considered Twilight. You’re not alone!

When I saw this I had to stop by and tell you how wonderful these sound. I’ve been craving cinnamon chip scones for ages and haven’t been able to find the chips, but your version with chocolate and ground cinnamon will definitely do the trick. Thanks for sharing!

I’m guessing maybe this was copied from another scone recipe? I think step 4 should be add chocolate chunks? And step 5 is just add the buttermilk? I don’t see orange zest, juice or cranberries in the ingredients? Thanks – I love your site and recipes!
