I feel like this cocktail is really important to know how to make. This Simple Bloody Mary recipe should actually be called “Breakfast and hangover cure in a glass.” When the holidays come around everyone is boozing it up, lots of hangovers at our house anyway. Bloody Marys are some what of a tradition for me when it comes to this time of the year. It’s funny because the first time I had a Bloody Mary I thought it was really gross. I think it’s the kind of drink you like when you get older. Like coffee, or scotch on the rocks, or brussels sprouts. Now I love them in all their spicy tomato-ness glory. So if you have never made one at home, do yourself a favor and prep by getting all the ingredients before you have a big night out. Thank me later.

Love bloodys, no matter the time of day or my current state of hungoverness or not, they are my obsession!
I also lo-lo-love your metal toothpicks! Where can I get those?
It took me several tries to come around to them, but like coffee, beer, and bleu cheese, I now love them.
I love cheese, pickles, and peppers in mine. Sausage if I’m feeling on the meat train. Obviously I’m a midwest girl.
I want one right now! Love them with pickled okra!!
First, um, thank you! I absolutely love Bloody Mary’s, but it’s hard to find a recipe that isn’t too pulpy. This one looks perfect. The only thing I would add is a celery stick. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
Lol, It’s hard for me to add celery to any recipe…it’s like my kryptonite!
I’ve only recently started drinking bloody mary’s and I love them! It’s like a meal in a glass. :)
I love me a good bloody mary, I usually just buy some mix (Lyle Style, it’s made near where I grew up and it’s really tasty, but it might just be a northwest thing?) and if I’m feeling fancy I’ll add some extras to that, but this looks easy and delicious and maybe next time I’ll try and make my own!
Wow! Great recipe! Love the idea of adding the Rooster Sauce. :)
We think that’s the best part! Sadly there’s a weird shortage sitch happening at the moment. Hopefully it’ll pass soon!
I’m definitely not much of a cocktail pro but my goal for a while has been to really firm up classic recipes, like this one! Definitely saving to whip up a batch of these this weekend!
Definitely something everybody should at least know how to make. I like to think of Betty Draper whipping up one of these for Don, when they were together, to cure his hangover. Love a good spicy bloody!
The first time I had a bloody mary, I was super young – like 12 or 15. I asked my uncle to make me a virgin one, which he proceeded to do. Or so I thought. He handed it to me and stated, there is some vodka in there – it just isn’t a bloody mary without it.
Since then, I have had some delicious bloody marys and was just adding it to my menu for Sunday brunch when your post popped up in feedly. Great timing!
