A recipe for Beer Battered Fried Olives.

Pitted olives for Beer Battered Fried Olives.

A small bowl of olives next to a larger bowl of olives in beer batter.

We are very excited because this weekend we are trekking it to Austin, hanging with friends, and going to the Austin Food and Wine Festival to eat lots of good food. I have just purchased a pair of ‘chambray’ pants (more like mom pants) with a stretchy waistband that I will live in so I can eat more delicious food. Is anyone else heading over to Austin for the festival?

Today we have these Beer Battered Fried Olives. I am not a huge olive fan, so if you’re like me, you can totally substitute olives for pickled green beans, cocktail onions, or pickled asparagus. All those things go well with the yogurt sauce. Yum. These are a great way to fancy up your regular cocktail olives. Hope you all like it!

What a great thing to fry. I would definitely try stuffing them with blue cheese first!

I have tried this with cocktail onions and they were amazing! I am also not a huge olive fan but they are delicious if you stuff them with cheese (mozzarella or ricotta)!

Made these for a client 7 years ago (from Verona, Italy – celebrating his 50th birthday). Apparently his mom used to make them for him for special occasions when he was a kid. I’d never made them before, but went for it following their instructions exactly (stuffed the pitted greens with bulk spicy italian sausage). They were a huge success. I love the yogurt dip you included. Think I’ll bring these delicious little nuggets out as an app. before dinner this Saturday. Great timing, as usual! :D

I don’t go for fried food much, but I love fried olives! I had them once at a restaurant and have been thinking about them ever since. I just might have to make these.
