Shrimp scampi recipe on a plate with bread and lemon wedges.

We can’t believe its taken us THIS long to put a Shrimp Scampi Recipe up, but we finally have one and we’re so excited! Our recipe is super simple and guaranteed to result in tender shrimp that’s swimming in the most decadent garlic butter sauce.

We love to serve this with some crusty bread for dipping, but you can also toss it together with pasta for another popular option. Our shrimp scampi can be made in just 15 minutes for the perfect weeknight, no fuss meal!

    Tips and Tricks for Success

    • When buying shrimp, start by heading over to the freezer section. The prepackaged shrimp you find in the freezer section is less expensive then from the seafood counter and it’s usually the same shrimp!
    • Removing the shrimp from the pan to deglaze with wine will prevent the shrimp from overcooking – almost always guaranteeing that you’ll end up with tender, perfectly cook shrimp.
    • Don’t overcrowd the pan when initially sautéing the shrimp. This will cause the shrimp to steam and cook unevenly.
    • Don’t have the heat too high. This will cause the shallot and garlic to burn, which will leave an off-putting flavor in the dish.

    Shrimp Scampi Variations

    • You can either add more crushed red pepper flakes for a bigger kick or omit it completely if spicy isn’t your thing.
    • Parsley is the traditional herb that’s added to this dish, but thinly sliced chives or minced tarragon are also delicious in our shrimp scampi recipe.
    • Stirring a big handful of spinach leaves into the dish right before removing from the stove, is a great way to sneak some greens into this dish.

What to Serve with Shrimp Scampi

We love serving shrimp scampi as an appetizer, with a side of crusty bread or crostini. When we’re craving a full meal we love tossing this dish together with some cooked pasta or spooning the mixture over some rice/quinoa/farro. Delicious!

I have a question, why are the recipe steps listed one on a page? It’s such a waste of paper! Great recipe!

What do you mean? The printed recipe? The entire recipe should print (especially if you select no images) on just a page or two

The only peeled, deveined shrimp I can currently find are the 21-25 count per lb. Would those be appropriate for this recipe/cooking times? Thanks!

Hi! That sized shrimp will work just fine! They will cook up a little faster, so I would just cut down on the cooking time by a couple minutes.
