Have you ever wanted to serve pizza bagels of pizza bites as an appetizer to your guests, but that feels weird because you’re at that stage in your life where you couch isn’t from ikea and you want more of a Martha Stewart flare than a frozen food isle at ralphs. I get it, but also I would definitely not judge and honestly be happy if I was a party and there were pizza bagels or pizza bites. However, we have for you today a classed up version of all those glorious frozen food isle pizza situations. We have Pull Apart Pizza Bread. Basically this delicious is bread has red sauce and pepperoni stuffed between its crevices, and then we top it with melted butter and herbs to add another layer of calories and deliciousness. Pull Apart Pizza Bread
Makes 2 (2.5” x 5”) loaves
3 cups bread flour (all purpose is fine)
2 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
8 ounces warm water
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for sprinkling
2 ounces thinly sliced pepperoni, sliced into thin strips
1 tablespoon minced oregano
3 1/2 cups tomato sauce, divided
1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon thinly sliced chives
1 teaspoon minced oregano
1. Pizza Dough: Pour flour, yeast, salt, and oil into a mixing bowl and whisk together. Add water, 1/4 cup water at a time and mix together until soft and sticky dough forms.
2. Turn dough out onto a clean and lightly floured surface and knead for 2 to 3 minutes, until smooth dough forms.
3. Lightly grease a mixing bowl, add dough and cover. Allow dough to rest and double in size, about 1 hour.
4. Filling: Place mozzarella, Parmesan, pepperoni, oregano, and 2 3/4 cups tomato sauce into a mixing bowl and mix together.
5. To assemble: Preheat oven to 425˚F.
6. Divide dough in half and cover one of the balls of dough. Roll other half of dough until 1/4″ thick.
7. Using a circle cutter, cut out 10 to 12, 2.5”circles.
8. Scoop 2 tablespoons of the filling into the center of each circle and fold in half. Line each stuffed half circle into a lightly greased loaf pan, seam side up.
9. Once the pan is filled, sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan and repeat with the remaining ingredient in the other loaf pan.
10. Place the pans onto a baking sheet and bake for 22 to 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and Allow breads to cool, about 10 minutes.
11. garlic-herb butter: Place butter and garlic into a small saucepan and place over low heat. Melt butter and garlic together and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in herbs.
12. Brush butter onto each loaf and serve with remaining tomato sauce.
