Air Fryer Tofu (with Sweet Chili Sauce)

This air fryer tofu is perfectly crispy and coated in a deliciously spicy sweet chili sauce. One of the easiest and most flavorful ways to make tofu at home!

Ingredients

crispy tofu

  • 16 ounce block extra firm tofu (pressed for 30 minutes) cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper

sweet chili sauce

  • 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Sambal Oelek
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 minced garlic clove (about 3/4 teaspoon)

Instructions

  • Pat tofu cubes dry.
  • In a mixing bowl combine cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and white pepper.
  • Add tofu cubes and toss until evenly coated.
  • Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Line tofu pieces into air fryer, leaving 1/2 inch space between each piece. Generously spray tofu pieces with cooing spray.
  • Turn each piece and spray again with cooing spray.
  • Air fry tofu at 400˚F for 5 minutes. Shake the basket, then continue air frying for an additional 5 minutes.

sweet chili sauce

  • While tofu air frys, make sauce. In a small pot combine vinegar, water, and sugar. Dissolvesugar over medium heat and simmer.
  • Stir in sambal, soy sauce and cornstarch slurry. Simmer for 1 minute until sauce thickens (it will thicken more as it cools). Remove from heat and cool.

Assembly

  • Place air fried tofu cubes into a large mixing bowl. Pour sauce over tofu cubes and toss together until fully coated.
  • Top with green onions and serve.
