citrus_champagne_cocktail As new year is right ahead of us, we know everyone will be having champagne. We wanted to give you an easy recipe that you can add to champagne that just takes it up a notch. This recipe is especially good to make if you plan on buying lots of cheap champagne. :) Also, the ginger syrup in this recipe that you will make is great in all kinda of cocktails. Citrus and Ginger Champagne Cocktail
Makes 1

1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce ginger syrup (recipe follows)
1 1/2 ounces fresh tangerine juice
5 ounces chilled champagne
citrus peel

1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add lime juice, ginger syrup and tangerine juice. Cover and shake for 1 minute.
2. Pour mixture into a champagne flute and top with chilled champagne. Garnish cocktail with citrus peel of choice and serve.

**Ginger Syrup: Place 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar and about 2/3 cup (about 1/4 pound) fresh peeled and thinly sliced ginger into a saucepan and simmer for about 30 minutes. Strain mixture and allow syrup to cool completely. Seal in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use. (lasts for about 10 days)

    This sounds divine! I try to avoid refined sugar however, so do you think this would work with honey or coconut sugar instead?

      I think it would work just fine…I would increase the amount of ginger used though to make sure the flavor comes through. I’ve used date sugar in the past with great results!

    I like the sound of this! I may have to try it NYE. I love a good French 75 and this sounds delicious.
